“One day, during a walk in a forest, I started banging a branch against the trunk of a tree. This action put me in a state that is familiar to me, but for which we have few words – a joyful yet angry state, a feeling of my own power in relation to my ability to act within the physical world”. From this experience, Bryan Campbell has extracted a romantic, erotic forest dance show, as unique as the relationship between humans and their ecosystem. Love and violence alternate in these Deep Cuts, which the Paris-based American artist performs, sings, and yells, awakening the pastorals composed to showcase the beauties of nature to city dwellers – BDSM pastorals that bite, sting, and hurt. Astounding!
