A deal takes place in Parc Bernasconi. Two women negotiate in a grove for an object that will never be named. A moment of silence that Koltès envelops in a tense dialogue of intranquillity and aggression. In the Solitude of Cotton Fields stages an economy of relationships: it’s about giving something you don’t have to someone who doesn’t want it. It’s about desire. In a daring production that gathers together the voices of Anne Alvaro and Audrey Bonnet, Roland Auzet offers a solitary listening experience with headphones. We hear all nuances, tones, and timbre through this device. Inviting our desires into the joust between the dealer and her client, both driven by the need to take power over the other and enjoy her defeat, Auzet turns us into protagonists rather than witnesses. Enjoy a dizzying experience led by extraordinary performers.
La Bâtie-Festival de Genève presents two productions of one of Bernard-Marie Koltès' most beautiful texts, In the Solitude of Cotton Fields, almost 40 years after its publication. Maya Bösch and Roland Auzet offer a double choral and intimate experience of this singular piece of writing.
Audio helmets will be issued on presentation of proof of identity.
This outdoor show takes place in all weathers, so bring warm clothes if necessary.
