When elusive French/Venezuelan artist Sophie Fustec, aka La Chica, joins forces with El Duende – the alter ego of composer and explorer of the South American folk repertoire Marino Palma – the result is bound to be explosive! These two hypersensitive creative artists have pooled their resources, connected by a powerful, visceral bond: they both shared the same piano teacher. On La Chica’s side, there are too many influences for an identifiable style to emerge. Unconcerned with labels, she builds her own soundscapes based on the notes that echo deep within her, and articulates them around her spellbinding voice, singing mainly in Spanish. La Chica knows no limits, delighting in both angry, protesting tracks and more intimate, ethereal atmospheres, while El Duende shakes up the established codes of composition according to the artists he meets. Backed by a small orchestra, the two artists will be giving the Alhambra their full measure for the very first time, with their electrifying, disconcerting, yet continuously fascinating music.
