Four new works

Dance

Presented in Hamburg in August, Lucinda Childs’ latest creations are a symphony of purity. Her four new works include two group pieces and two solos. For the group pieces, the New York dancer and choreographer has invited her lifelong friend Philip Glass and cellist Hildur Guðnadóttir, winner of the 2020 Oscar for her unforgettable soundtrack to Joker. For the two solos, performed by Childs herself, one features an unpublished text by John Cage and a video installation by Anri Sala, while the other was created for Frank Gehry’s 90th birthday from a composition by Esa-Pekka Salonen, winner of this year’s Polar Music Prize. Melodies, voices, lights, and bodies: welcome to the elegant and minimalist world of Lucinda Childs!
