D’habitude, on dit que les enfants grandissent. Eux se regardent et pensent parfois qu’ils vieillissent. Chapeauté par le centre d’art CAMPO de Gand, le collectif germano-britannique Gob Squad donne corps à ce processus mental de façon subtile et spectaculaire. Enfermés sous les yeux des spectateurs dans une pièce à miroirs sans tain comme des insectes dans un pot de confiture, des enfants de 8 à 14 ans regardent des films sur eux-mêmes tournés deux ans plus tôt. Ils se revoient plus jeunes, commentent les images, s’interrogent. Ce faisant, ils renvoient les adultes voyeurs à leur propre relation au passé. Un dispositif novateur pour un spectacle fascinant, qui plonge en profondeur dans notre désir universel d’éternité.
Under the eyes of the spectators, children shut in a room of mirrors without silvering comment on footage of themselves filmed two years earlier. The Germano-British collective Gob Squad give body to the feeling of growing old that exists within every generation. Innovative and fascinating.
